Employment
Associate Piano Teacher (£30/hour)
About Us
At Gavin Stewart Piano Academy, we put making music at the heart of every lesson. Our approach is built on three core principles: Inspire, Empower, and Create. We guide pupils to find their passion for music, equip them with the skills to become independent learners, and help them take ownership of their progress.
The Role
Due to expansion, we are seeking a dynamic piano teacher to join our team on a self-employed basis. Lessons take place in pupils' homes, so own transport is essential.
We provide full administrative support (timetabling, billing, contracts, and operational policies) so you can focus entirely on teaching. You will also receive one-to-one support from the Director and access to CPD opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
-
Assess pupils' musical abilities and establish personalised goals.
-
Deliver engaging, high-quality piano lessons to a variety of age groups and abilities.
-
Prepare students for exams (guidance and materials provided).
-
Demonstrate a commitment to professional development.
Requirements
-
Essential: High standard of piano playing (Grade 8 equivalent or above).
-
Essential: Good communication skills in spoken and written English.
-
Essential: Current Professional Liability (PL) insurance and DBS certificate. (Note: We can assist with the costs of obtaining these for the right candidate).
-
Preferred: Music degree or diploma.
-
Preferred: Membership with EPTA, MU, or ISM.
-
Must be willing to work evenings and weekends.
Who We Are Looking For?
This role is ideal for a recently qualified music graduate looking to build a portfolio career, or an experienced teacher seeking flexible hours. We value dynamic candidates who enjoy mentorship and can adapt to different learning styles.
