Employment Opportunity: Associate Piano Teacher (£30 per hour)

 

At Gavin Stewart Piano Academy, we put making music at the heart of
every lesson. Three words lie at the heart of our approach: inspire,empower and create. We aim to guide pupils to find their passion for music, give them the skills to become independent learners and take ownership of their progress.

 

Due to expansion, we are seeking a piano teacher in the Perthshire and Dundee areas on a self employed basis. Initially there are 3-4 hours per week, with the possibility of expansion.

 

Applicants must be willing to work evenings and weekends. Lessons take place in pupils’ homes, so own transport is essential.

Responsibilities

 

You will be responsible for assessing pupils’ musical abilities, establishing goals and delivering engaging lessons. This would be an ideal role for a recently qualified music graduate or someone looking to add to their portfolio career. We are particularly looking for dynamic candidates who are interested in mentorship and can engage with a variety of age groups and abilities. 

Skills/Qualifications

 

• A high standard of piano playing (grade 8 equivalent or above) is essential.

• A music degree/diploma is preferred.

• Good communication skills, in both spoken and written English, are

• essential.

• EPTA/MU/ISM membership, current PL insurance and DBS certificate are essential. Help to sponsor these can be given to the right candidate.

• Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to their professional development. They will receive one-to-one support from the Director and access to CPD opportunities.

 

We provide full administrative support (including timetabling, billing, contract management and operational policies) to allow you to focus on teaching. Guidance on curriculum, teaching materials and methods and exam preparation assistance will be given as required.
